Drug Prevention


Education and training is the cornerstone of the Drug Demand Reduction program. The goal of the counterdrug program is to deter the influence of drugs by developing resilient individuals, families and communities.

Our training is custom-tailored to the organization or group that requests support from the Hawaii National Guard Counterdrug Support Program.

Drug Demand Reduction

Drug Demand Reduction, or DDR for short, organizes National Guard resources, members and families in support of drug abuse prevention programs in the community.


Alternative Activity Support
Our program supports community activities that promote a drug-free lifestyle. Activities that our program supports includes, but is not limited to drug-free events, community centers, athletic/recreational/adventure activities, community service activities and after school programs.


Informational Support
The DDR program provides information about illegal drugs, illegal use of legitimate drugs as well as the effect on people, families and communities. We can provide information booths and static displays for community events.

Community-Based Support
Our program can assist in the development of Community-Based Organizations (CBO) and also support existing CBO's that are organized to reduce the illegal use of drugs. Forms of support include community assessment, strategic planning, community mobilization, collaboration and evaluation.
