Civil Operations

Civil Operations, also known as Drug Demand Reduction (DDR), organizes National Guard resources, members and families in support of drug abuse prevention programs in the community. Education and training is the cornerstone of the Drug Demand Reduction program. The goal of the counterdrug program is to deter the influence of drugs by developing resilient individuals, families and communities. We provide a wide range of education and training, support to Community-Based Organizations (CBO), and much more.

Our training is custom-tailored to the organization or group that requests support from the National Guard Hawaii Counterdrug Support Office. The following are some of the types of training and education we offer:

Our program supports community activities that promote a drug & alcohol-free lifestyle.
Activities that our program support includes, but are not limited to: drug & alcohol-free events, community centers, athletic/recreational/adventure activities, community service activities and after school programs.
The DDR program provides information about illegal drugs, underage drinking, illegal use of legitimate drugs as well as the effect on people, families and communities. We can provide information booths and static displays for community events.
Our program can assist in the development of Community-Based Organizations (CBO) and also support existing CBO's that are organized to reduce the illegal use of drugs. Forms of support include community assessment, strategic planning, community mobilization, collaboration and evaluation.
